Radio Club Rally on the Firepower Museum site. Occasional Radio Junk Sale Home
Military & Vintage Radio Club Weekend at FIREPOWER
Our next tabletop radio market and junk sale in Woolwich is
1/2 MARCH 2008
The Vintage Operating Group (M0VOG), hold an annual indoor table top vintage, radio & military and radio junk sale (not surplus computer junk), along with working demonstration and displays, both of military and of amateur/commercial radio and accessories.
VOG advertise this event widely, which takes place in two large ground floor rooms of the historic, former academy building, on the Woolwich Arsenal site, adjoining the Royal Artillery museum, five minutes walk from Woolwich Arsenal railway station and a few minutes from London Buses. Woolwich Free ferry is 10 minutes walk along the river bank to the East. Plenty of free car parking on site.
A small donation to museum funds is made by each trader and the visitors helped swell the fund with a 50p dontation, accompanied children under 16 years free
The working vintage radio displays attract a large number people, others came for the bring and buy. Many people say how much they have enjoyed the event and then go on to look round the Royal Artillery museum.
ENTRY FORM BELOW
Firepower invite
you and your radio to come and be displayed for the benefit of the
public and in support of the special radio weekend display and the live
operation of the Vintage Military Radio Station GB2RA.
The museum Quad and
limber should join in (subject to weather) with rides around the area. Anybody offering a
display is welcome. Please let us know what you can offer by email or
by completing the application form below. There is NO ENTRY COST.
The live signals display, using a special Amateur Radio Call Sign GB2RA, operated by members of the Vintage Operating Group(Call sign M0VOG) with both Vintage Military Radio (and may be some slightly more modern Amateur Kit), will operate for the whole of the weekend.
A Saturday evening indoor BBQ is planned, costs shared, with a LARGE SCREEN showing by Alan Turner (RAWHS) of some official archive pictures of interest to military vehicle owners, indeed to anybody who has an interest in the history of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich. These have never been seen previously by the public, so we are priviliged!
Secured overnight
vehicle storage facilities will be available and indoor DiY
accommodation in the former Military Academy Building is planned. Bring your own food, or share ours, for the Saturday evening BBQ. Facilities will be available on Friday evening and for Breakfast on both days, or you can use market cafe 200 yards away.
This is an unusual rally at an unusual place, with warm accommodation provided. Remember 2006 and 2007?– well the museum still holds the actual guns, from which the VC metal was cut and you can view these..
All your family are welcome, there is a leisure centre close by, as is
the Woolwich Free Ferry, if they want something else and different to
do. Caravan parking is available, by prior arrangement.
Please aim to arrive and be set up by 10am Saturday (come Friday evening if preferred) depart 3pm Sunday.
Families welcome – Caravans welcome, so long as they are booked in advance.
